The post office
The post office is in the town hall, against the north wall, between the engraver and the stairs down to the Diggings: two barrels and a red sign. Letters arrive even when the other player is offline; they'll find them next time they come by.
Reading your mail
While a letter is waiting for you, a Mail panel on the right of your screen says how many there are; it goes away once you've taken them. Only you can see it. When you log in with mail waiting, you also hear a bell and see A letter for you (it never says who from). If a letter arrives while you're playing, you get a line in chat with the sender's name and a bell.
Not sure where to go? Click [show me the way] in the message, or type /post way: it tells you how far the post office is and in which direction. It doesn't teleport you.
Click the post box to open your mailbox, then click a letter to take it (and its parcel, if there is one). Make some room in your inventory first.
Sending a letter
- Write your letter in a book and quill and sign it. No book? Take one from the shelf next to the post boxes, it's free.
- Hold it, stand anywhere in the town hall and type
/post <name>. - A small window opens: that's the parcel. Put in up to 3 stacks if you want to send a gift, or leave it empty.
- Close the window: it's posted. A stamp costs 1 ✦.
- Up to 5 letters a day per player; a mailbox holds 20 letters.
- Some things can't go by post: items the server gave you (hats, keepsakes, torn pages, things from the store or a rank), shulker boxes and bundles. They simply stay in your inventory.
- A letter nobody takes for 90 days is thrown away; a parcel goes back to its sender instead.
Privacy and pests
The staff never read your letters. If a letter is rude or worse, right-click it in your mailbox to report it: a member of staff reads that one letter, nothing else. /post block <name> stops someone's letters; /post unblock <name> undoes it. Please don't put real-life contact details in a letter. See the privacy policy.
