The Diggings (resource world)

The Diggings are a small world for mining and gathering, so the main world stays beautiful. It is renewed every month: fresh ground, fresh caves, untouched structures.
Getting there

Go down the staircase in the corner of the town hall's entrance hall, walk the vaulted hall to its far end, and take the great stair down to the Gate of the Diggings. Step through the portal: you arrive at the outpost, a little farmstead with a lodge, a barn and a well.

The rules of the Diggings

- Mine as much as you like. Dig it, strip it; that's what it's for. Only the outpost is protected.
- It resets on the 1st of every month (5:00, Central European time). You'll be told a week before and the day before; the next date is on the notice board at the outpost.
- Nothing there is kept. Builds, chests, beds; everything left in the Diggings disappears at the reset, and can't be restored. Your inventory is always yours.
- The mine yard: follow the lantern-lit path from the outpost (the sign says The Mines). Four pits around a crossroads, a signpost in the middle, each with its own arched entrance, a staircase down and a bin by the door (click it, drop your spare dirt in, close, gone). Mine 1 clay, gravel, dirt and sand · Mine 2 stone and coal · Mine 3 iron and redstone · Mine 4 gold and lapis. Break 300 blocks in Mine 1 to open Mine 2, 600 in Mine 2 to open Mine 3, 1,000 in Mine 3 to open Mine 4. Each mine hides 50 treasures (barrels in the rock), shared by everyone, first come, first served. A mine refills itself when it's mostly dug out; you get 5 seconds' warning and you're lifted to the edge. Type
/mineto see where you are. Everything starts again with each new season, for everybody. Diamonds? Out in the wild, as nature made them. - Rent a lot at the outpost for the season: 16 × 16 or more, only you can build, dig and open chests there. 300 ✦, 150 ✦ from the 16th, and not available in the last week, one per player. The lots line the outpost's lantern-lit alleys, on ground that is already flat and cleared of trees; click the post at a lot's entrance to rent it. It lasts until the reset, and everything in it goes with it.
- No Nether portals in the Diggings. To come home, step through the portal at the outpost, or use
/spawn. - It's about 3 × 3 km. About six minutes' walk from the outpost to the edge. Small on purpose: it's a quarry, not a second world to explore, it's made fresh every month, and you'll run into other players. For the long journeys, the main world is 10 × 10 km and never resets.
- Keep-inventory is on, PvP is off, as in town.
