The treasure hunt

Every month, when the Diggings are renewed, treasure chests are hidden in it. Clues are posted in town and get clearer every week. On the first Saturday of the month at 8 pm, a column of light rises over the Diggings: the great chest is under it, with this month's hat.
How it works

- Seven hidden chests (barrels, each next to a small post with a lantern), somewhere on dry land in the Diggings. Each one can be found once by everyone: opening it gives you your own treasure; there's no racing to empty it before others.
- Clues are in the book on the lectern at Books & Maps on the high street, and in
/hunt. The first week they only name the part of the Diggings and the biome; then the direction and distance from the outpost; then a closer distance and the lie of the land; in the last week, rough coordinates. Playing two hours a week is enough. - The great chest appears on the first Saturday of the month at 8 pm (Central European time), under a column of light that lasts two hours. It then stays until the Diggings reset, if you miss the evening, it's still there for you, and its clues grow clearer too. The first to reach it is named in the chat and in the book, and goes into the trophy case in the council room of the town hall (first floor): under your name if you choose it (
/hunt name on), otherwise as "a treasure hunter". - This month's hat is in the great chest, for everyone who reaches it. The four hunt hats take turns: Copper Kettle, Lantern Hat, Fisher's Hat, Flower Crown. Each comes back every four months.
- Everything resets with the Diggings on the 1st: a new hunt, new chests, new clues, for everybody at once.

The rules of the hunt
- Free to join, for every member. No purchase ever helps you find a chest.
- The treasures are game items only. Materials, food, a few rare things, and a named keepsake that the town counter doesn't buy. Nothing in the hunt has any value outside the game.
- Sharing clues with friends is fine. Cheating isn't: no x-ray, no modified clients, no map mods that reveal blocks (see the rules).
- The hunt chests can't be broken or moved. If something looks wrong, tell the staff.
- These rules can change from one month to the next; the version in force is this page, and it is announced before the hunt starts.
