Town orders

The town clerk posts orders: the town needs something to build. Everyone brings what they can; when an order is filled, the town builds it, and it stays in town unless the town changes it.
Update, 29 September 2026. We drew every build on the real town before starting, and some of the first list changed: a few would have covered things that were already there (the fountain already has its stone bench, the lighthouse its copper bands, the bridge its railing). The list below replaces the earlier one. The fountain order now asks for lily pads instead of stone bricks, if you had set stone bricks aside for it, they'll still be welcome elsewhere. The order sizes also changed (see below).
How it works
- Find the clerk, “Town orders”, on the east wall of the town hall's entrance hall. The sign on the right-hand column shows how far the orders have got.
- Click the clerk: a chest opens. Put the goods in and close it. Anything the orders don't need comes back to you. (You can also type
/orderin the town hall.) - When an order is full, everyone who helped gets a small keepsake, and a few minutes later the builders put it up. It shows on the web map too, under “Built by the town”.

How big is an order?
An order asks the same amount from each active player, so it grows with the town. The count is taken over the last two weeks and fixed when the order opens. One player can bring at most a tenth of an order (more when only a few players are around), so it stays a town effort. There's no Ember reward: the new build is the reward.
A delivery counts towards the order hats from 6 items (or 5 % of a small order): three orders for the Forager's Basket, eight for the Woodland Hood.
Up to two orders run at the same time. An order that isn't filled simply carries on. When a season starts, its seasonal order takes the second place, and the order that was there waits, with everything already brought, until the season is over. A new order usually follows on the Monday after one is built.
This season's orders
The order below is a guide, not a promise of dates. The two first orders, Light the quays and Flowers for the port, open the season.
| # | What the town builds | What to bring |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Four benches along the square's east–west walk | oak logs |
| 2 | Lily pads on the fountain, ferns in pots on its landings | lily pads |
| 3 | White banners with a red border on the three model shops | white wool |
| 4 | A smooth stone mosaic on the town hall walk, and pots of flowers | smooth stone |
| 5 | Benches, planters and a lectern at the bandstand | oak stairs |
| 6 | A birch porch over the market board | birch planks |
| 7 | Two stone benches outside Books & Maps | polished andesite |
| 8 | Kelp bales and mooring bollards on the lower quay | string or dried kelp blocks |
| 9 | A purple curtain at the back of the theatre's stage | purple wool |
| 10 | A pulley crane lowering crates to the lower quay | chains |
| 11 | A little roofed shelter halfway along the path to the Old Oak | oak or spruce fences |
| 12 | Red and white buoys on the river | white or red wool |
| 13 | A curved dark oak bench at the foot of the Old Oak | dark oak logs |
| 14 | Benches and copper spyglasses at both ends of the belvedere | copper ingots |
| 15 | Dark stone sills in front of the Nether Gate | basalt, blackstone or cobbled deepslate |
Seasonal orders, put up, then taken down
| Season | What the town puts up | What to bring |
|---|---|---|
| Autumn (1 October – 30 November) | Pumpkins and hay bales on the square | pumpkins or hay bales |
| Autumn | Jack o'lanterns along the path to the Old Oak | carved pumpkins or jack o'lanterns |
| Winter (1 December – end of February) | A winter market on the square: two little fir trees and braziers | spruce logs |
| Winter | Three snowmen around a frost lantern at the east gate | snow blocks |
| Spring (1 March – 31 May) | Pots of tulips along the belvedere railing | tulips, any colour |
Seasonal builds come down by themselves in the night after their season ends, with no compensation; your keepsake stays yours. A seasonal order that isn't filled by the end of its season closes without being built; what was brought isn't returned, but it still counts towards the hats.
