Building contracts
The town hires builders. Open contracts are listed at the Contracts counter on the ground floor of the town hall, and with /contract. Each one shows the pay, the number of blocks, where it is, and how many builders it takes.
- Take one: click [take], or
/contract take <name>(a word of the name is enough, for example/contract take watchtower). Your compass points to the site. - Build: the blocks to place show up as small ghosts, the current layer and the next one.
/contract progresstells you the layer you're on and the nearest missing block; the missing blocks of the current layer glow yellow. When the materials are provided,/contract materialshands them out on site. - Get paid: the moment 95 % of the plan is right, the contract is done and you're paid. With several builders, the pay is split by the right blocks each one placed. A builder who placed less than 5 % of the plan gets no share.
- Scaffolding: take it down before the end. A few stray blocks are fine (2 % of the plan); more and the contract waits. Earth or stone you added to level the ground beside a path doesn't count.
- Time: 7 days.
/contract extendadds 7 more, once. If time runs out, your blocks stay, and you get your share when someone finishes it. - After it's done: you have 24 hours to touch it up (fix a block, take down scaffolding, pick up water). Your pay doesn't change. Then the building belongs to the town.
- How many: two small contracts a week (under 100 blocks), and one larger one paid a week. New ones from Monday.
- Pay in claim blocks:
/contract payout claims(1 ✦ = 1 block);/contract payout embersto switch back. /contract leavedrops your contract. The blocks you placed still count for you, if they make at least 5 % of the plan.
Why fixed pay: you know the price before you start, and nobody gets paid for blocks that aren't right.
