Shops & games

The market quarter is where players open their own shops, and games: a maze, a parkour, a quiz room, anything fun. Each player can run one.
Getting a space
- Walk the market street: every space has a sign saying whether it's for sale and at what price.
- Click the sign to buy it on the spot, or ask the plot clerk in the north-west corner of the town hall (
/plotlists what's free). - Once it's yours, the sign shows your name. Only you (and whoever you trust) can build there.
- 25 × 25 spaces: 4 are free, the others 450 ✦.
- Three ready-built shops, the Copper Kettle, the Ember Bank and the Boulangerie, 1 500 ✦.
- Paid once, no rent.
Building it
- Build and stock it within 30 days. Need more time? Just ask a member of staff; we're flexible.
- Make it fit the town: light stone, dark wood, aged copper, lanterns, flowers; the town palette is on sale at the town hall (
/palette). No bare cobblestone boxes. - At most one storey lower than the town hall. No farms, spawners or machines in town.
- Put a sign at the front with your name and your prices in Embers (✦).
Selling: stalls
A stall sells for you, even when you're offline. In your own shop:
- Place a chest (a single one) or a barrel, and put the goods in it.
- Place a sign on its side and write: line 1
[Sell], line 2 how many per lot (e.g.16), line 3 the price of a lot in Embers (e.g.20). - Done. The sign turns into a price tag: 16 × Bread, 20 ✦ (1.25 each), in stock, your name. Keep the chest stocked; it shows SOLD OUT when it runs out.
- Buying: right-click the sign to see the price, right-click again to buy. Crouch to buy up to 4 lots at once. You get everything or nothing.
- The Embers go straight to the owner, even offline, and when they log in, they see what sold while they were away.
- Up to 8 stalls per shop, inside your shop only. No tax: the price is what the seller gets.
- Only the owner can open or break a stall. Named items and treasures from the Diggings can't be sold at a stall.
- Sales are final; the staff only step in for a bug or a proven trick. Sales are logged for 12 months.
Finding what's for sale
The market board at the east entrance of the market street shows every shop: its owner and what it has in stock. In game, /market lists everything for sale, and /market <item> tells you who sells it and for how much.
You can still trade in person too: agree on a price, the buyer pays with /pay <name> <amount>, you hand over the goods.
- Prices are in Embers only; never real money: Embers, items and places can't be traded for real money, between players either.
- The town counter doesn't compete with you: it only buys a short list of everyday goods, and it doesn't sell anything.
If you stop
- Changed your mind? The town buys the space back at two thirds of its price (
/plot sell). What you built stays, and the space goes back on sale. - A shop whose owner hasn't played for 60 days goes back to the town.
