Land & claims

Outside town, you protect your builds with a claim. Nobody else can build, break or open chests inside it. A claim stays protected for a year after your last visit.
Claiming
- Hold a golden shovel (there's one in your starter kit; it's crafted from 1 gold ingot and 2 sticks).
- Right-click one corner of your land, then the opposite corner.
- Done. Hold a stick to see claims around you.
No shovel at hand? Type /claim to claim a square around where you stand.
You start with 2 500 claim blocks (a 50 × 50 area) and earn 100 more for every hour you play. Placing your first chest also claims a small area around it automatically.
/claim,/abandonclaim,/claimslist. Manage your claims./trustand friends. Share with others (see Guilds).

In town

The town is protected by the staff: you can't claim there. Instead, you buy a place of your own. Every lot has a sign saying whether it's for sale and at what price; click the sign to buy it on the spot. You can also buy from the plot clerk, in the north-west corner of the town hall (/plot lists what's free, with coordinates).
- Plots around the centre, about 45 × 45: 1 200 ✦.
- Shops (see Shops & games) in the market quarter, 25 × 25: 4 spaces are free, the others 450 ✦; the three ready-built shops (Copper Kettle, Ember Bank, Boulangerie) 1 500 ✦.
- Build your shop within 30 days. Need longer? Just ask a member of staff. After that, an unfinished shop goes back to the town.
- One plot and one shop per player. Once it's yours, the sign shows your name.
- Changed your mind? The town buys it back at two thirds of its price. What you built stays with the town, and the place goes back on sale at full price.
Build it beautiful; see the town rules and the town palette (/palette at the town hall).
